Our Story

Black & White — Serving Kibera, One Cup and One Cone at a Time For seven years, Mitch and Steph have run their food stand in Kibera, serving up community favorites like french fries, fried cassava, and their signature porridge — a warming blend of groundnuts, cassava, sweet potatoes, and milk that's become a neighborhood staple. But Black & White has always been about more than food. As committed Bitcoiners, Mitch and Steph see the stand as a way to build financial independence for their family and give back to their community — from serving affordable meals to running a Bitcoin-based "soft loan" savings program that helps other local businesses stay stable. Now, they're working toward their next chapter: expanding into a full cafeteria, complete with breakfast, lunch, and dinner service, to fill a gap in a neighborhood where no proper sit-down eatery exists. They've already identified a location — just steps from their current stand — and are building a business plan to bring the vision to life.
